Business Unit--TASK #1--The Resume
The purpose of this unit is to prepare students for job interviews they will have in the future. There are several preparatory steps as well as a culminating activity which is to be interviewed by a professional business person in the Redford and/or Livonia community.

Step One - Create or Update a Resume


The resume must include:

Contact Information
  • Your first, middle and last name
  • Your street address, city, state and zip code
  • Your home phone and/or cell phone
  • A professional email address (Example: John_Doe@gmail not com. NOT Italian_Stallion@gmail.com )

Objective
It is important that your objective be as specific as possible for the job you are applying. This is an area that should be updated each time you apply for a new job. Example: I am interested in working as a sales clerk in the retail industry.

Education
Most recent high school with anticipated graduation date
Other high schools attended, including year(s) you attended

Work Experience
Most recent experience first, include name of business as well as city. Include dates of employment
  • List duties performed


Activities/Interests
Highlight all of your extra-curricular activities. List most recent first.
Include regular activities that take place outside of school (church, youth group, volunteer, etc.)

Awards
If you have received any, list most recent first. If not, do not include this area.

Bottom of resume should say: References available upon request.
